Can blood pressure readings be misleading, and change due to mood/exercise?

I went to the doctor a few times for some checkups, and I remember getting my blood pressure checked, and it was on the high side. However, this was after I came from the gym doing cardio 30 minutes prior, then walked across the large parking lot at the hospital, and was in a panic/stress mode.

I had another doctor check it and it was still kind of high. Then I told him to let me rest a bit and check it again. Then minutes later when he checked it, it was in the normal range.

So how accurate can these blood pressure readings be if they always change?

Does mood %26amp; physical activity change it?Can blood pressure readings be misleading, and change due to mood/exercise?
Yes Dr's should not take a person's blood pressure just after they come in:then they have the White Coat blood pressure:due to the stress of being at the Dr.

Thee same goes for after running, biking swimming etc

And your mood plays a great deal in it too.

Then you release hormones that get your pressure up.

So all in all:they are not accurate as people believe.

Only when you are checked regularly and it is constant too high :you can say that you suffer from a high blood pressure.

Lots of thing affect your blood pressure. You need your B/P checked when you're totally at rest for a period of time for its low Then you need it checked again when you're under physical stress for your high reading. Then present these readings to your Dr.
Your blood pressure will remain high for a significant time after you exercise. Caffeine, many foods, and allergy pills can significantly increase your blood pressure, too.

As long as your doctor doesn't start to get pill-happy and tell you you need a prescription, I wouldn't worry over much about it.

If you are really concerned, you can get a very accurate home test kit and check your BP over the course of several days.
You have white coat syndrome. A lot of people have higher than normal blood pressures when they go to the doctor's office. You should sit and relax at least 5 minutes after activity before you have your blood pressure taken. Physical activity makes the systolic or top number higher, too.
