My doctor doubled my dosage when should i notice a change?

i was on 20mg of prozac for a month.. no change in mood.. only a little more energy.. everything else stayed the same.. so he just doubled my dosage to 40mg a day. how long before i notice a change.. do i have to wait a month again or should i notice sooner since it is already in my system?My doctor doubled my dosage when should i notice a change?
Sooner. My doctor doubled my lexapro and I noticed after about three days. It'll probably take less than two weeks for prozac.My doctor doubled my dosage when should i notice a change?
Unfortunately medication is only part of the whole picture.

It would be good if we could just wait for the pills to work.

We still must go on every day.

Fill your time with things to keep you busy. It will help distract you while the Prozac is kicking in.

I have been taking medications for years, and I don't think about them. I just pop the pill and go about my business.

    i've been feeling the same way, what i try to do is just give a day to myself, to just relax, watch some movies and things like that.     What I do is just try to avoid an argument or fight at all costs. Just ignore them because they want it to get to you, it's not fun to make fun of someone who doesn't react. So don't react, go to your room and do something you enjoy. Trust me.. it works a lot better than actually arguing.How to change my mood and life?
    whenever you fight with your brothers and sister just let it go. don't react, ignore it and act like its no big deal. if you want to take it a step further apologize even if it wasn't your fault. If you don't argue your mood will be a lot better.     I can give you a long positive lecture on mood but today I am just not in that mood. Ignore trivial issues and learn to control the rapid fluctuation of moods because after all, your brothers and sisters are your close dear ones.

    I'm trying to find out if listening to isotones could be harmful in any way, because I've heard that the special frequencies can change your mood or make your body release growth hormones.     You know, I'm usually the person looking for answers but in this case I can actually give you the answer..... It's really very easy. Next time you post a new blog look under the ';BODY'; section Where you can put your mood in..... it says: ';CURRENT MOOD'; with the work MOOD linked. Click on the link and it will give you a pop up window that will show you your options. -- Hope this is easy enough for you!

    what i do is i either, talk , usually about things that make me happy, feel good like psychology or even having a good whinge about someone that annoyed me which helps rise my serotonin back up again

    i put on music so its not so noticeable and 'shout sing' to the music

    you basically;y find your own way to 'ride it out'

    but never ignore it

    it will only come back later on, worse than before

    you have to learn a system to manage it

    like i have with my pmdd

    Your depression may be the result of a chemical imbalance, so I think you should see your physician and maybe start taking an antidepressant in addition to your therapy. Good luck and God bless.

    It sounds like you need some long term counseling...I would try to find some free counseling if you have access to this. Have you ever tried any medications? They can help but you really need the counseling to with this as it sounds like your issues are much deeper than just situational depression. Are you a member of a church? Churches often provide counseling and I think that it would be a good idea for you to investigate this. It isn't easy to just snap out of it and it is good that you recognize that your husband loves you and you love him but depression doesn't just hurt you, it hurts everyone in your home. If your mom was depressed you could have a hereditary tendancy toward this problem and I think that you need to me more aggressive in your treatment of it than just trying to wish it away.

    Before you can love others, you need to love yourself. It is good that you are aware that you need help. Knowing you need help is half the battle won. Depression can be both situational and it does have some strong ties with whether others in your family are also depressed (like your blood siblings and parents). Have you also tried family counseling? Depression not only affects you but those in the house hold. There are many medications and treatments your psych. / counselor can discuss with you. It is apparent your husband cares for you and that he is understanding. His support will be very helpful, but you must make whatever strives possible to feel better, especially about yourself.     There are a lot of medications out there and you may not have found the right one. You say you saw a psychiatrist so I'm guess for medication... but I'm confused about how often you saw him. Did he provide therapy, too? Usually, psychiatrists don't provide therapy and you definitely sound like you need that, too. Medication alone is often not enough.





    There are also cognitive techniques that sometimes help. See if there's a Recovery, Inc. in your area... call your local NAMI.org or NMHA.org affiliates for information on what else is available in your area. You can get that info from their websites.

    I have a similar problem, though I know my problem stems from stress. Though there were other contributing factors in my past. Drugs weren鈥檛 the answer for me. I hated the way they made me feel; I needed an alternative, so I turned to an interest. I picked something that appealed to me and focused on it. It could be a book series, or games, or anything that will hold your interest. Make it your own little world where you can retreat whenever you feel the need to escape. Give it a try鈥t helped me anyway.

    I think you first got to get over you mother, thats the first. I know is hard getting over family problems but you have too. The best thing will be to forgive her and any person that has wronged you. get rid of any hate cause it will slave you mind and what is good will be bad, you wont be able to tell the difference cause it distorts your rationalization. Important: Due your problems and if you have taken drugs to deal with it will mess you up more. Do this, to fight depression take St, Johns Wort with 5-HTP, for nervousness buy these amino acids, L-glutamine which makes GABA the essential neurotransmitter for controlling nervousness and that overwhelming feeling that life is to hard to beat. That is called fear and more GABA will give you a sense of power over problems and life. Take L-Tyrosine to balance your dopamine and epinephrine levels in the brain. and take a multivitamin and dring lots of water. you do all these and you will cope. I know my life was worst and I made it. its hard but remeber that everybody has to take a beating sometime.
    A lot of the time, you can change your mood just by doing something different. If you are feeling sorry for yourself, then stop being the victim....look at life in a different way. Volunteer a couple days a week. I did this a a food pantry till I got sick and couldn't walk anymore. But Im planning to go back there once I'm well again.     I feel the same way sometimes. Im starring this question just because I want to find a way as well.
    its simple coz just remind ur happy moments when u get sad!
    Get a good hobby or something to occupy your mind. Try mindless entertainment like a hot PC action shooter games...or watch tv a lot.

    Taking happy pills helps.

    But I would suggest going out more, listening to A LOT of music, doing what you love most, eating chocolate, exercising (since I'm told it lets out endorphins or something which put your body into a good mood) and going for a jog or walk.

    Walking always calms me down if I'm in a bad mood, and I find after half an hour I can't remember what I was mad about.
    Think of an event which made u immensely happy, listen to relaxing music - classical flute / violin...take a drink of water cuopled with a eep breath, thank god for what u have, and look around u will see many who would kill to be in your shoes.. u should be in a good mood by now. LOL

    Whenever I get depressed, I will think of, completing the comfortable tasks first and make myself celebrate for closing that task.

    Every day we will be followed up by bad situations, maximum we must forcaste that and maximum don't be close to that,solve it or postpone it and solve it.

    I get angry faster,depression faster but maximum I will try to do another interesting work to control these. See some Movie,Play with children, go to some site seeing, shopping busily, Go for some hotel, learn some guitar,listen smooth music,go for fresh bath,Oil massage,play some video games go to big maals.

    Always try to do another work while you get depressed or angry.

    But after you get control you must be careful to think why this happen and it must not repeat.

    After Depression or Anger will always helps human to think correctly.

    Dear Friend. change of mood from happy to mad and vice versa indicates that you are case of psychological disorder . It may mean that you have no control over your mind. You are just behaving like a uncontrolled figure. You are subject of unvoluntary and unwanting change of moods. This is a very sad case.     don't worry too much about being bi-polar. people who are bi-polar have longer lasting mood swings (from manic to depressive, each lasting at least a few days, sometimes weeks or months. you probably just have to learn to control your mood. if your all of a sudden mad or sad, take a second to think about what exactly triggered it. think hard, and if you can figure it out, work on fixing it, and try not to react to it next time. so long as you dont have a mood disorder, you can gain control of your thoughts, which leads to control of your emotions. however if you can't pinpoint anything that made you happy or sad, talk to your doctor about it.
    I am the same exact way. I'm surprised with the answer that the person with a psychology degree gave you below. First off, to begin with, Psychology is one of the easiest 4 year degrees..and this person isn't even a psychologist. Secondly, Psychology doesn't emphasize on the study of biological imbalances that occur with a woman's hormones throughout her life.

    You have an imbalance. I know how it feels. You practically feel like you can't help it..and that you are out of control. There are many things that will improve this in the meantime, if you do not wish to seek medical help. Just a 15-30 minute job everyday makes a HUGE difference. Cutting processed sugar out of your diet completely along with caffeine will help to regulate your blood sugar and stabilize your moods.
    I think you must see a doctor right away before you hurt someone else like a family member or another close friend , true friends are very hard to find now and these days ,

    If I'm not feeling too good, I have to cry to let out my feelings.. I usually cry and let myself go... Then when I'm calmer, I talk to my husband about what I'm feeling and usually he's able to give me a nudge (and hugs and kisses too!) and get me going again. Isn't that what spouses are for? To lift you up when you really need it? I turn to my spouse instantly and it works for me. I pray before I sleep that night too.     Listen to uplifting music, pray, spend time with people that encourage me, think about how blessed I am even though I may be going through strife.

    First, what do you mean by feeling low in marriage? You should talk with your spouse and see if they are feeling it too. My hubby and i had this problem, we found out we both felt the same. We were given, the five love languages book, it helped so much. We both were feeling unloved, we learned people feel love different ways. Now we also try new things neither of us has done so we can experience it together. We role play a little, yes in bed is what i mean. For myself, i started working out, change my hair, just try to do something each day for your spouse and yourself, if they do the same, you both should feel better. Please if anything, talk to them first and see if you both are feeling the same, if you don't communicate, affairs happen, divorce, unhappiness etc. NO REGRETS

    How do I get this mood thing under control?

    I suffer from bipolar 1, the most severe form of bipolar. Unlike many people in my situation, I remain calm and cool, but I can't change my mood to save my life. I like to walk on the tredmill because it decreases my stress level (another part of my bipolar), but I can't seem to sway my mood into being happy enough to stay up there and endure the workout. Can anyone help me to change my mood?How do I get this mood thing under control?
    I hope you are in the regular care of a cognitive therapist or an Adlerian therapist, to help you manage your moods and thoughts. I often suggest the ';4-S Metrhod'; of thought and feeling control to my patients:



    1. Stop sign -- When you sense a thought you don't want in your head, in your imagination hold up a huge red stop sign, perhaps being held by a stern-faced crossing guard!



    2. Shout it out -- Shout at the thought, scream at it, curse at it, yell at it (all in your mind, of course!) until you can sense that it is leaving your mind. (The nice thing about the mind is that it cannot contain more than a single conscious thought at a time.) Treat it like an intruder in your mind, someone you DO NOT want in there! Get angry at it!



    3. Substitute -- Have handy a sentence or thought to put in the place of the unwanted thought. Make it something strong, something positive, something you really want to believe! (Some people carry such positive or self-encouraging thoughts with them, on 3 x 5 cards.)



    4. Sustain -- Keep at it. YOU CREATED THE UNWANTED THOUGHT FOR A REASON! (';Psychology of Use'; says you think all your thoughts in order to get something from them!) As you kick the unwanted thought out the front door, it will turn around and try to sneak in a window or down the chimney! DON'T LET IT!



    Keep repeating the four S's until you find yourself to be in charge of the thought you don't want. As you become more comfortable with this, you'll find you are more in control of your whole mind, and also of your feelings.



    If you really WANT to control your thoughts, this is highly effective. I'm pretty sure that, if you use it regularly, you'll find that you are in charge of your thoughts by this time next week. If you mention this approach to your therapist, he/she should recognize it as Basicallly Adlerian but primarily the result of behavior therapists Joseph Wolpe and Arnold Lazarus.



    You may also want to get the book ';Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy'; by David Burn, about $8 at Amazon, as well as the workbook that goes with it. Burn is one of the main students of Aaron Beck, specializing in cognitive therapy. -- Dr. Bob (Adlerian psychologist)

    The day before I could barely sit at work, my back/tailbone was killing me. On the day of I was a little nervous all day at work. I had had my first cervix check that morning at 38 weeks and was spotting so I thought it was that but no, my water broke at work at 3pm and I had my son at 5am.     i cleaned the crap outta my house.. like cleaned it from ceiling to floor..
    I felt normal, but with contractions... I never got cranky or anything until after the first day of labor - mine lasted for 33 hours!
    My bub was due near xmas, I was just very excited. I didnt notice a change in mood like extra grumpy or happy etc. Just very excited. No unusual signs for me.
    1st I ate a large pizza and slept til about 3am, then woke up in labor. Felt fine the daybefore and didn't notice anything as I slept peacefullly lol.



    with 2nd, my water started trickling. and I went grocery shopping for like 2 hours thinking I was just gushing a bit of pee when I would sneeze. But I felt fine that time too. No contractions until I got to hospital.

    It seems like common sense but they really do help if you, make a positive environment for yourself, with the friends you hang out with, to the music you listen to and movies you watch. Also I'd suggest making goals that you focus on each day. As you accomplish goals (ie. better job, education, family stuff etc) you'll definitely feel more fulfilled. Hope this helps.

Try to find something to take your mind off what is happening at the time and just enjoy a good book, talk to a friend, talk to family.

    I texted him a while later after the argument and he apologized for going out of line but he again kinda ended the conv on a slightly rude note..i didn檛 reply to his last text..

    I didn檛 think he檇 call me before morning but he called at 3:30 am ate night like he usually does?was very serious and kept saying that I should go to sleep but we both talk this late quite often so I just said no its ok..we can talke was serious but I kept getting a good feeling about the fact that he called me at his usual time instead of how he said he would...

    Is that good??

    He hasn檛 called me again since night don檛 think I should call frankly think he needs his space and I am still slightly offended about his manner however I plan to not show an attitude but just become slightly aloof?

    Aww, your so sweet! Just do your best to not snap back at her and be very patient with her mood swings. Be there for her when she has a breakdown. Helping out with daily chores is a big help too!
    Looks like you are sweet and caring. When I have my mood swings I just want my husband to get out of my way. You know, just leave me alone.

Cook dinner, clean the house, do the groceries, talk to her, etc. My mum is going through mood changes, too, and what stresses her the most is when nobody volunteers to help around the house.     That's a sweet question. If she's anything like me though you are not going to be able to do anything right cos I just get really angry and have to take it out one someone (poor hubby!).

    Aww, thats so nice of you to be so concerned. My fiance has been pretty good so far (27weeks), he basically agrees with me and not tries to fight, he lets me vent when need be and just takes it and says he is at fault when Im sure he thinks I am. He cooks for me 85% of the time, he does 95% of the laundry, takes care of the cats 95% of the time, he keeps the house pretty clean to where I only have to pick up a couple things, that really helps out. He lets me fall asleep whenever I want, whether its on the couch or in the bed. I get my way during sex, so whatever doesnt feel right he has to reposition to please me. Backrubs are awsome, my back hurts all the time, and at first he use to offer all the time but now I have to almost beg for one, and they feel so good. Get her a foot soak or rub her feet, he got me one. Helps me up off the couch, or to the bed when Im really sleepy. Doesnt ask questions when I pick something up from the store, I get what I want now...doesnt matter what (food wise I mean). When Im in the shower he gets my towel and puts it in the dryer, so its warm when I get out. Makes me breakfast before I leave for work. Helps me get groceries out of the car, even if its 3 bags.

    All of the above he does for me, and I am know any women would appreciate also. Tell her that you want her to come to you when sh eis feeling down, depressed, sad, confused anthing its okay to come to you. Read baby books with her also, she will know you are excited about the baby and you are trully interested in wanting to know all about the process and outcome, and of course you go with her to all her prenatal visits!

    Just be patient with her. Let her know if she needs help with anything your there to help her.It is very difficult to express out feelings while we are pregnant. We try not to make it hard for those around us especially our spouse but sometimes its hard because we don't know how to express our feelings in the right way.Just let her know that you are willing to help in anyway possible.I'm sure she will appreciate that very much. Being pregnant I know sometimes Its hard just being a little big.I'm in my last weeks of my pregnancy and My husband most of the times has to wash the dishes because if I wash them I have to stand to the side and wash(belly won't let me get to the sink)lol.     Hi, I'm no expert but i can speaking from personal experience having both parents suffer mental illness i have experienced similar behavior from them both. I have spent a good part of my adult life blaming myself for how i was treated and then went through a period of hating and blaming them which left me suffering with depression myself which in turn lead to my own children suffering because of my mood changes. You could talk to your GP if you feel you can not approach your mum. My mother can not see that her behavior is manic and this can often be the case. There are lots of other organisations who are there to help MIND, SANE and Making Space which is specifically for carers i personally went to my GP at first who was a great help.

    It's absolutely all about heat. If you take it and rub the underside of the stone, it will change colour almost instantly; the more friction and subsequent heat you create, the more the colour will change.
    Unfortunately, mood rings do not really play into your emotions. They only detect the heat from your skin and change color according to that.

    You must go to a psychologist. You are not qualified to make that diagnosis. Switching moods in seconds does not satisfy all the symptoms of a bipolar disorder.



    If she is very emotional, and switches moods in seconds, that sounds like the defense of splitting to me (thinking things are either all good or all bad) which are two symptoms of a Borderline Personality Disorder. It really doesn't matter what the label is though- if you are unhappy, you're unhappy, maybe you should seek couples counseling so she doesn't feel singled out.How can I find out if my wife is bipolar?

    there should be signs of mental disorders in her family history. a poor diet and lack of exercise will definetly make it worst.
    discuss a topic on one day and discuss the same topic another day, possible changes in attitude could reveal the disease.
    She needs to see a psychiatrist, since if she is, she needs prescription medication. You can go too, so it isn't just her.
    hmm good question Just say that you are going to get yourself check out for it yourself, and ask if she wants to go along also.

    It is good to get get check out by pychosolist once every so often.

    well, unless she's willing to go see a doctor, not much you can do to find out. I have bi-polar disorder and mood swings are very severe if I don't take meds. I went to a doc though as I didn't know what was going on. I would totally flip out on anyone and anything and the slightest thing would tick me off to the point where I didn't care about anything or anyone. so if she has violent mood swings I would suggest you take her to a doc or just suggest some counseling and then they will refer her if she needs it :)
    She is not bipolar....she is just a regular women having her period

    It will help you decide if her mood swings are severe enough to be classified as bipolar episodes. If nothing else, read up on it online. Decide what to do from there. Also look at what kind of mood swings she's having (depressed to happy? happy to angry? etc.) and what could be causing her mood swings (is she mad at someone? is she stressed at work? etc.)
    I have Bi-polar and there are alot of signs.If this shows my email then contact me if you need to.But some of it is like PMS.One minute you can be depressed then go into a manic state.You are very full of energy and some times do things(like spend alot of money or really sexual or cleaning and cant stop.My thoughts race. you would not normal do most people need little sleep during this time then they seen to crash and are depressed.type in symtoms of b/p in the search and there will be alot of helpful sites
