Q about Depression? Mood changes in depression? Anti-depressents making things worse! advice?

If you'v have diagnosed regular depression and you feel awful for some of the time and you might feel good a couple of weeks later and then you become even more depressed again then the whole cycle repeats it's self time and time again but gradually getting worse.... does this sound like normal depression? is it normal for my mood change so dramatically from good/functional/happy/energetic/positive to just the worse description of depression!

One of the reason i ask is because i am on 40mg of celexa/citalopram, and have been for almost a year, but my mood is getting worse, i feel less and less stable every week! ( i have tried 3 other anti-depressents which didn't agree with me)

Any idea's as to what i should do? i don't really know what to do, i want to feel stable and get better but i don't know how to help my self.Q about Depression? Mood changes in depression? Anti-depressents making things worse! advice?
Coming from a person who has Clinical Depression, this does not sound good.

If you have a psychologist or Therapist, call them. You probably need to be on a different medication. I'm on 50 mg of Zoloft. If you don't have a psychologist or Therapist get one a.s.a.p. You can try looking up these people on the internet who are located near you or try asking your doctor to refer you to someone good.

It also depends on how old you are. I'm 18, and welbutrin is not very appropriate for a young person to take.

You also may not be taking a high enough dosage of medication.Q about Depression? Mood changes in depression? Anti-depressents making things worse! advice?
You need to talk to your doctor and tell him what you said here. Obviously, your pills have stopped working for you. Some pills don't work for years, and sometimes, you need to switch pills to one that works better for you. Not all pills work for everybody.
The meds alone won't always work and yes, that sounds like you have just become more used to them. You may need to consult a doctor, but for now, try to work around what you feel to see if this could be just a stage or an actual problem you are working through. Have things changed for you recently and you may not be dealing with those changes as well as you thought? Or maybe you hadn't noticed those changes are actually effecting your life? You will have to help yourself when you feel a mood swing/sad etc. It's like my doc advised me, ';If you don't feel like they are working, and they won't always work -get up, go outside and take a walk or do something you really love to bring you out of your state of mind.'; In short, that advice has always held true and worked.
